Rather than hijack the photo thread, I thought I’d just stick a load of images from my recent work trip to Bangladesh here, in one place. It was a great trip, and I met some really amazing people. Apart from running the teacher training course and visiting lots of local schools, I got to take a boat ride through a freshwater mangrove swamp place, meet a buffalo and witness an elderly muslim man whip a bottle of scotch out of his pants and furnish me with a beverage in Sylhet’s only nightclub. The city is a surreal cacophony of cycle rickshaws, CNGs, livestock and motorbikes. By the end of the three weeks, I was really quite taken with it.
Wow, amazing! All of it. Glad you had a great time there.
Nice! Love the crucial pics of the two dudes holding hands (in cute eastern friendship fashion) and the sleeping rickshaw man—archetypal images.
Neat!
Yes, thanks everyone. I’m going back for another 3 weeks in February. I think the photo of the schoolgirls is my favourite.
That does look quite amazing, Nick - thanks for posting. Hope the return visit will be just as good!
(It’s funny you posted this yesterday - last night, I would guess - because at the pub quiz last night, “Bangladesh” was the correct answer to two questions. Did you know that it’s the only country in the world whose English name ends in -h?)
I concur with everyone who’s said these pictures are amazing - thanks for sharing!
Yesterday I learned that Sylhet is one of the top ten wettest inhabited places on earth. I don’t know that that fact has anything to do with anything but it puts it on the map for me. Great pics.
